Which Crystal Is Right for Me?

Crystals are used for their spiritual and healing properties, and each has a different energy. There are endless resources for choosing the right crystal for your home or business (we particularly love Judy Hall’s The Crystal Bible). 

If you’re starting metaphysical journey with crystals, there are a few stones to consider: 

  • Clear Quartz serves to amplify energy and the effects of other crystals. 
  • Amethyst is an excellent crystal for stress and meditation. 
  • A protection crystal, Black Tourmaline helps shield people and spaces from unwanted energies.  
  • Carnelian stones target the sacral chakra, boost energy, and increase creativity. 
  • Selenite can help lift mental fog and even charge other crystals.

Your crystals and stones need to be cleaned (and cleaned regularly). Remember: It’s all about imbuing these spiritual items with positive intention.

How to Cleanse Crystals

Running Water

Rinse crystals under lukewarm water for 1-2 minutes.

Note: Check before using water, as certain stones are reactive. These include black tourmaline, turquoise, desert rose.

Smudging

You can smudge with palo santo, incense, or sage by passing the crystal through the smoke. Do this as many times as necessary.

Earth Burial

After particularly intense energy work, you may want to consider burying stones a few inches underground. We recommend leaving them for up to 24 hours. This act cleanses and charges crystals.

Sound & Vibration

The vibrations from a Tibetan singing bowl, tuning fork (e.g., 256 Hz), or simple bell can help dislodge negative energy from crystals.

Cleaning is one part of the process. You'll need to charge crystals to restore their energetic assistance helps restore them so that they can continue providing energetic assistance.

How to Charge Crystals

Charging Plates

We highly recommend placing a selenite charging plate in the sun. Whatever you place on this plate will absorb the sun’s beautiful energy.

Moon Energy

All crystals can safely be left under the new moon and full moon.

Sunlight

Some crystals may be placed under direct sunlight for a few hours. This does not apply to stones like turquoise, aventuring, and quartz (e.g., amethyst, citrine, topaz).

Intentions

Hold your crystals and charge them by focusing your energy and intention. Try to envision a bright light enveloping the stone.
